Jim and Frank Mysteries Solutions - Puzzle #10 - Weight Watching

Weigh any three weights on one side against another three weights. If neither side is lighter, weigh the remaining two weights to find your answer.

If one side is lighter, one of the three weights on the light side is the lightest weight. Weigh two of those three weights against each other. If one side is lighter, you have your answer. If neither side is lighter, than the weight left off the scale is the lightest.

  1. Every time I drop in the lightest apple in the basket and submit my answer, I get back a wrong result. I've weighed three against three, then weighed the lighter side, or the remaining two, and I still fail.

  3. It's the fifth apple from the left; not sure if it's different for everyone else though

  4. Make sure you are picking the lighter apple. Seems obvious but I kept picking the heavier one before I realized it. The lighter one will be on the side of the scale that goes up....Duh! *Smacks self*
